The Early Years

The business was originally founded by Allan Johnson and Paul Tennent in 1986, and began life trading as Johnson & Tennent – although internally it has always been known as J&T.

In 1991, Allan acquired Paul’s share of the business and became the sole proprietor.

The Formative Years

The next 15 years saw the business grow in leaps and bounds, and a number of small practice purchases along the way. These practice purchases allow for growth into the ever expanding market of Yeppoon. The purchases include (but aren’t limited to – and in no particular order):

• PJ Wells & Co
• Benson & Olson Yeppoon
• Shirley Gleeson & Associates
• Ward Accounting Group

The Changing of the Guard

In 2014, Andrew Stuart, a long term employee who commenced with the firm in 1999, was admitted as a partner and director of the firm. Andrew is a Registered Tax Agent, and a member of the Institute Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand (ICAANZ).

In January of 2019, Allan retired from the accounting practice and his share of the business was acquired by Robin Joe Kong and Tracey Chester. Joe and Tracey are the partners and directors of Northern Business Consultants (NBC), based in Brisbane, and they are both members of CPA Australia.

Joe and Tracey are also directors of a number of other accounting practices through Queensland.
